Born in Sydney, Australia in 1969, Peter Lewis studied painting at Edinburgh College of Art, gaining his degree in 1996. A full-time secondary school art teacher for 10 years, he has exhibited work around Scotland but concentrates mainly on commissioned work.

Living and working in Campbeltown in rural Scotland, Lewis’s painting is often influenced by his location with the fishing and farming environment of the area, a common theme in his work. Lewis has worked through a variety of styles in the last 10 years, the most popular being his “drip” paintings and his more recent geometric work.

Lewis works in a variety of media according to his client’s wishes but primarily with chalk pastel drawings, oil paintings and mixed media. A lot of Lewis’s commissions are of portraits which are largely done in chalk working from photographs and produced in a more ‘traditional’ manner.

A variety of Lewis’s more recent painting is displayed on this website to give a feel for the variety of work he produces.
